Update

I was able to spend five wonderful weeks at home, meeting friends and family and getting some really good rest. On August 30th, I was at the wedding of one of my best childhood friends, and the Friday after that I was the MC at the wedding of my two best friends from my time in New Zealand. I’m endlessly thankful that I could be in Europe for these two events!

By now, I’m back in New Zealand, and this Sunday we’re already starting with the new DTS.

But here’s a little testimony from my first week at home:

I booked my plane tickets as early as possible so I could spend a lot of time with my family. Later I found out that they wouldn’t actually be back from Iceland until five days after I arrived. So I was wondering what to do with that time, and decided to mostly rest and meet up with some friends. But somehow, nobody really had time, so I didn’t have much of a plan for that first week.

Then one evening, a group of ten American backpacker-missionaries suddenly showed up at our house. We had hosted their leader and his groups a few times years ago.

So I got to host them spontaneously for three days, celebrate August 1st (Swiss National Day) with them, and spend some time with them. It was so cool to see that I could do something similar at home as I do here in New Zealand, and that God had planned all along for me to come back earlier.

Breydan's Testimony

I grew up in a Christian home, and when I was young, my faith was a simple reflection of my parents’. But as I got older—especially in middle school—I started to have questions: “Is God loving?” “Why would He send good people to hell?” “Am I really saved, or do I need to work harder?” Unfortunately, in my church culture, these kinds of questions were often discouraged.

By high school, those unanswered doubts turned into resentment, and eventually I walked away from the faith. I felt trapped by religion and wanted nothing to do with it. I even tried convincing my Christian friends to leave too. During that time, I threw myself into work, trying to find identity and worth in performance. But that left me bitter and unfulfilled. I turned to alcohol, gambling, and meaningless relationships, hoping to fill the emptiness inside—but they only left me more broken.

Eventually, I quit my job out of frustration and burnout. It was in that space of stillness that I began to reconsider Christianity. I started exploring faith again but quickly got pulled back into old patterns after getting a new job. Then I lost that job too—and I know now that was God pursuing me.

That’s when I began seriously seeking Him. I joined worship nights, pursued Christian community, and slowly God began to reveal His love to me. He showed me I wasn’t too broken to be healed.

Eventually, I joined the DTS in New Zealand, and it changed everything. God completely set me free from the chains of sin. Through DTS, my faith was solidified, and I finally understood what it meant to be a child of God. I was no longer broken—I was restored.

If you take anything from my story, I hope it’s this: you are never too far gone. God can and will restore anyone who comes to Him.

I had the privilege of walking alongside Breydan as his one-on-one during his DTS. It was such a great honor to be part of his journey and to see how he took big steps toward Jesus week after week. He is currently in Canada, preparing for a Bible school in Lausanne, and I’m excited to see where in the world missions will take him.

Fundraising

Over the past 1.5 years, I’ve been generously supported by some of you. Thank you so much!

However, I also need financial support again this year. To make everything a bit clearer, I’ve created a table where you can see what my expenses look like. The fields with a checkmark are already covered by someone. If you would like to support me and my work here in New Zealand, feel free to get in touch with me and let me know which of these squares you’d like to cover. Thanks a lot!
